I am Joy Rajat Das, a writer, journalist and communications professional with a strong interest in politics, society, media, technology and the issues shaping everyday life in India.

I spent around seven years in journalism, including working with Deccan Herald, where I covered sports and other developments. I later moved into corporate communications, working across content development, internal communications, employee engagement, research and communication measurement.

Joy Das Writes is my independent platform for examining subjects that deserve greater attention. Through explainers, analysis and commentary, I aim to make complicated issues easier to understand without oversimplifying them.

My writing covers areas such as public policy, the economy, digital payments, governance, education, media and culture. I believe good writing should inform readers, encourage questions and contribute to meaningful public discussion.

When protest becomes content: Who speaks for Jharkhand’s job aspirants?

Social media has drawn national attention to alleged recruitment-exam irregularities in Jharkhand. It has also complicated the question of who represents the affected candidates. Thousands of job aspirants marched towards the Jharkhand Assembly on August 10, turning a state recruitment dispute into a national story. Reuters reported that protesters crossed barricades before police used water cannons, tear gas and batons. Police said some protesters became violent and that only limited force was used.
